A. A SIMPLE INTRODUCTION
These are really bad times.
Really, really trying times for everyone in this world. It's very hard to stay optimistic in this present reality we're facing and people's smiles are leaving their faces day by day, as more sorrowful news of the pandemic's effects fill out TV screens.
Not just during these times, but when things seem to be downhill for you or just straight out bad, it gets to a point that 'being positive is nearly impossible'. Staying positive, to me, is actually a gift few of us possess, that even in the midst of troubles or worries, one still has a hope of a better tomorrow.
I respect such people. Being optimistic helps develop yourself as a person and encourages people around you.
It's a habit you need to cultivate.
I'm not much of an optimistic person myself, but I always try to light up the room with my smile, and in doing that, one person's sorry may vanish, and so will another, and so will another, and that's how it spreads.
Today, I give you my five special tips to stay a jolly buddy every single day of your life in this year 2021...

As seen above, positivity just means being positive. It's an abstract concept...a state of being optimistic.
C. What are the benefits of positivity?
The act of staying positive daily comes with it's many benefits, both to you as an individual, to your family and friends, to your societal background and the nation at large.
It starts from a single act of appreciating yourself more then grows to a united and developing country.
These are the headlining benefits of positivity in ones life and the society at large:
- It changes your entire persona and outlook
- It boosts self esteem
- It increases self confidence and self love
- It helps ones mental health
- It spreads goodness in the atmosphere
- It attracts friends to you
- It helps maintain good relationships in ones life
- It gives you a good reputation
- It grows the society morally
- It decreases rate of crimes caused by bad mental health
D. What breeds positivism?
Positivism in people come from various sources in their lives...from self control to external encouragement. I can decide to be positive today because I've seen something that motivates me to be positive to expect more good news.
You can decide to spread positivity because the day demands it(maybe it's Positive thinking day)or you just feel like smiling because of a dream you had.
There are many reasons why people choose to be positive but breeding positivity is something else....this means maintaining positivity.
This is where things get harder becakuse most people, like me, don't keep a long streak of optimism in their lives, because, life is just stupid and frustrating. Yet, there are also some people, not even the ones in the best living condition, that are happy 24/7 of their lives.
What's their secret?
It's really simple.
They just live, expect nothing less or more and live on.
You thought it wouldn't be this simple, right?😏
E. How can I stay positive?
It's difficult to keep your head high in weary times in your life.
Although, it is almost impossible to still be positive during bad situations in ones life, there are still some few tips that come in handy in dealing with pessimism.
I give you my top five tips for staying positive all through this year:
TIP 1: Think positive, be positive
This is not the first time you're hearing this but I tell you it's really effective if you try it.
One thing that causes us to be constantly negative about EVERYTHING in life is the fact that we only think about the negatives! We shouldn't base our minds on the "what-ifs" or what might go wrong situations and results. If we do this, positivity is not what we're headed to achieve.
For a change, think about the good things, the "it wills" and the possibly positive outcomes after you make decisions or if you're facing a dilemma.
A constant thought becomes a certain reality.
TIP 2: See possiblities out of non-entities
"In every nothing, there is always a something".
That's what my mom told me a few weeks ago, after explaining why we didn't celebrate my 17th birthday.
Not until now did I realize the truth in the statement. Well, that's a story for another day.
The point is don't just look at the surface where there is a lot of discouraging sights to make you feel you can't take that step, without looking deeper to see there are more encouraging things along the way. Always see good when there is bad, and think the best of the worst.
Many opportunities are missed by people because they are unwilling to look further to the near future of the benefits and only focus on temporary circumstances.
Don't be that kind of person.
TIP 3: Show love to people
Seeing smiles you put on others faces through an act of good deed breeds more positivism in ones life.
This is why most people do much charity work. Not only is it societally acceptable and morally appreciated, but also aids in building your own positivity day-by-day. Being compassionate and lending a hand to people in need of help goes a long way in building yourself as a human, social manner and a generally better person.
Whether is telling a funny story of yourself, lending a listening ear or financially aiding a friend, they're all works of charitable positivity.
TIP 4: Avoid stress
Stress is the enemy of a productive man.
Stress is the friend of workaholics.
Stress is the frenemy of the optimistic lad.
It affects your physically, mentally, emotionally and psychologically and it can come in these 4 forms too.
The case of coherent stress in ones life limits the person's eagerness or vigour to show positivism because of its tolling effects on the body, in and out.
Try to calm down after a busy day/week and destress
TIP 5: Read motivational books
I'm not someone who does it to an extent, but my trusted sources have said it's something that actually works for them and the science has supposedly proved it.
Some inspirational books like Thinking Big by Ben Carson are your go-to abode for search for purpose in life and answers concerning human life and inspiration for other . These books help to motivate, as the name signifies, you to perform certain actions and adopt a particularly beneficial lifestyle to the reader.
Some good books on boosting positivism in ones life include:
Man's Search For Meaning by Victor E. Frankl.
Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom.
The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch.
Earning Freedom by Michael Santos.
The Little Engine That Could by Watty Piper.
The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein.
The Dash by Linda Ellis and Mac Anderson.
As a Man Thinketh by James Allen.
F. A SIMPLE CONCLUSION
When things are hard in your life, it's near to impossible to stay positive about anything. I can say so myself because the present financial condition of my family is devastating, no thanks the the economic deterioration and insurgency Nigeria is facing, and so are millions of people in the world because of the pandemic.
It's not just about keeping that golden smile to brighten your office, but extending encouragement to people around you who need it.
